London does sunsets badly most of the year. Grey into darker grey. Maybe some orange if you’re lucky.
And then one evening it just decides to go completely mad.
I was running somewhere near the water, already thinking about getting home, when the sky turned. Deep purples. Gold cutting through the middle. The whole surface lit up like it was doing something on purpose. And I’m not exaggerating — there were about a hundred ducks. The sky looked like God had decided to show off.
I stopped. Took out my phone. Tried to hold the image long enough to paint it later.
That’s this painting. Not a studied composition. Not a planned session. Just a moment that lasted maybe three minutes before the light moved on and London went back to normal.
