You Want To Buy Original Art For Your Home But You Haven't Got A Clue Where To Look Without Getting Ripped Off?
Yes, I've been there too.
I'm José. I paint watercolours of London.
And over 8 years, I've discovered how to sell original art without secretive galleries, without the bollocks, and without you ending up with an Etsy print because you didn't know how to choose anything better.
But before I show you what's available, you need to know how this works. Find out in my free guide…
How To Collect Original Art Without Cocking It Up
In this free resource you'll discover:
✓ Why collecting art can change your life according to clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson (and why he's right)
✓ The #1 mistake novice buyers make and how to avoid it without spending thousands "learning the hard way"
✓ How to know if a painting will work on your wall before buying it (hint: there are free apps for this)
✓ Why galleries don't actually help you and how to buy direct from the artist without middlemen taking 50%
✓ The difference between "decoration" and "investment" and why an £800 original is worth more than 20 £40 prints
✓ My complete process: How I paint London on location, in the rain, obsessed with capturing light that disappears in seconds
✓ What nobody tells you: Why cheap or gifted art never gets valued (I learned this the hard way)
When you sign up, I'll write to you almost daily to tell you:
What I'm painting and why I paint it
Stories about London you won't see on Instagram
What happens when you try to capture light at 6am on Hampstead Heath in the rain
Paintings available before anyone else sees them
And also to sell to you.
My original paintings (£400-2400). Workshops. Processes.
If you don't like it, one click and you're out. Promise.
Yes, as you've seen, I paint and sell original watercolours of London.
But I have a dark past. Dark as a cricket's armpit.
I started painting trains. Illegally. (Already prescribed, don't worry.)
Then I sold paintings cheap. Gave them away. Thought art shouldn't be sold, that it was "for the people" or some bollocks like that.
I was in that cult.
The result:
Nobody valued what I gave them.
The paintings ended up in a cupboard, or worse, in the bin.
While I was still skint, thinking "someday" someone would "discover" me.
Then I realised something:
Cheap or gifted art doesn't get valued.
But art that someone chooses, pays for, and hangs on their wall with intention… that art changes lives.
Changes spaces. Changes how you feel when you come home.
And I discovered something else:
Galleries don't help. They sell you smoke. They charge 50%. And they treat you like you know nothing.
So I decided to bypass them.
In these 8 years painting London:
I've painted hundreds of paintings (many still unsold, I'm being honest)
I've learned through trial and error what works and what doesn't
I've discovered that people don't buy "pretty paintings"
They buy unrepeatable moments. Light that existed for 30 seconds and will never return.
I talk about these learnings in my almost-daily emails.
And you can see the results in my gallery (I'll send you the link when you subscribe).
Signing up is easy, and unsubscribing easier. Fewer clicks.
Mind you, some unsubscribe after the second email.
And that's fine. Not everyone's ready to buy original art.
Some prefer Etsy prints. No problem.
And even if you know nothing about art, if you subscribe (besides the resource):
You'll see how an artist tries to live from his work without dying in the attempt
I'll tell you about London spots I discover whilst painting that are worth seeing
You'll know the best pubs I visit after painting in the rain (travelling is an excuse for drinking)
And occasionally, I'll offer you a painting before anyone else sees it
All that and more, on my mailing list.
Oh, and I don't know if you know that some people know me as…
