Reflections on the Pond.

This painting has a story.

It started as a commission. A client I’d met while painting on Hampstead Heath wanted this exact view — the Victorian houses sitting quietly behind the pond, everything reflected in the water below. I painted it on wood panel. Then found out that wood panel can’t cross international borders without a special crate, or they burn it at customs. Something about bugs.

So I repainted it on canvas in three days. That one flew to New York.

This one stayed.

And now it’s the largest oil painting I’ve put up for sale. 120 x 90 cm on a solid wood panel. The reflections took the longest. That deep blue in the foreground, the houses breaking apart on the surface of the water, the way the light sits differently on still water than anywhere else.

I want to be upfront with you: this is a big painting. Heavy too. It needs the right wall, the right room, the right house. Not every space can hold it, and that’s fine.
