The River Cam shimmers under the afternoon light, its surface shifting with every ripple and reflection. This painting captures that movement—the dance of water, the soft greens of the riverbanks, and the quiet presence of the historic bridge in the background.

This piece wouldn’t exist without a bit of adventure. I was punting along the Cam, trying (and nearly failing) to keep my balance when I caught sight of this scene. The river, inaccessible from the surrounding campuses, offered a view that could only be captured from the water itself. A fleeting perspective, one that I almost ended up painting from the riverbed.

This painting is a reminder of those lighthearted moments—of drifting through Cambridge, of reflections that shift with the wind, and of how sometimes, the best views come from the most unexpected places.
